Maps Advisory is me. I hold plain .com names and offer each one to the business whose customers would type it.
For around eight years my work has been brand strategy and domain names, and most of it has been with owner-led firms: the regional service business, the family shop that grew, the consumer brand still run by the person who started it. Those are the people I like writing to, because they know their customers by heart.
My notes are short. I say which name, why it fits you, and ask whether you want to hear more. I think about a name from your customers' side: what they say when they recommend you to a neighbour, and what they type later when they try to find you again.
How I work
I write to one business at a time, and only when the name really describes what it does. You get one figure, not a negotiation dance. The money goes through an independent escrow service, so you never pay me before the name is in your hands.
If a name is not right for you, I would rather hear it straight away. A no is a perfectly good answer, and I will not keep writing after it.
Where to find me
My office is on the ninth floor at 805 SW Broadway, in downtown Portland, a short walk from Pioneer Courthouse Square and the transit mall. Downtown's blocks are famously small, two hundred feet a side, laid out that way so there would be more corners. I like that idea: more corners, more places for a business to be found. It is where the grid on this site comes from.
Maps Advisory is a domain name practice and nothing else. It has no connection to any other company with a similar name.
