What the symbols mean
The questions owners ask most, answered in a few lines each. If yours is not here, write and ask it.
The name
- Why did you write to my business?
- Because the name describes what you do, sell or serve, and your customers are the people most likely to type it. We write to the businesses a name fits best, one at a time.
- Is the name really yours to sell?
- Yes. We hold every name we offer, and you can see the current registration before anything is paid. The escrow service also checks the transfer before it releases a cent.
- I already have a website. Why would I want another address?
- Many owners point the plain name at the site they already have. Customers who type it land with you, and your current address keeps working.
- Can you find a name you do not hold?
- We only place names we hold. If you ask about one we do not have, we will say so plainly.
The figure and the payment
- How is the figure set?
- By the name: how short and plain it is, how many businesses could use it, and how often people type words like it. You get one number, not a range, and it is not raised because of who you are.
- Is there a commission or a buyer fee?
- No. The figure is what the name costs. The escrow service charges its own fee, and the agreement says who pays it before you sign anything.
- Which escrow service do you use?
- A licensed, independent escrow service that handles domain names, named in the agreement. You pay it directly and it releases funds to us only when you confirm the name is in your account.
- Can I pay in instalments?
- For a larger figure, yes. The name stays with escrow while you pay and becomes yours with the last instalment.
The move
- How long does the transfer take?
- If you use the registrar that holds the name today, it can be pushed into your account the same day. Moving between registrars usually takes up to a week, because the registrars confirm the change between themselves.
- Will I have to renew it?
- Yes, once a year, with your own registrar and at their normal price, as with any domain. We charge nothing after the sale.
- Should I check trademarks?
- If you plan to build a brand on the name, a quick check with your own adviser is sensible. We are not lawyers and do not give legal advice.
- What if I say no?
- Then that is the end of it. Reply with a no, or with the word stop, and you will not hear from us about that name again.
